Sand & Sea Baby Blanket, PDF pattern
About the Design
I wanted a baby blanket whose styling was non-traditional, yet derived from a traditional source. My inspiration was an antique block quilt.
I used a wide rib, with single purl stitches to simulate the quilting stitches. I used the tans and blue-greens of beach and surf. And, so it was only natural to have a shell edging, which is quickly crocheted.
The squares are very portable and easy to work. And using 2 strands of worsted weight yarn together makes it a quick project, as well – great for that last minute baby shower gift!
